Scooter Braun Breaks Silence On Taylor Swift Feud, Pleads For A Resolution Following “Numerous Death Threats”

Enough is enough.

Scooter Braun finally released a statement regarding his conflict with Taylor Swift because he fears for his family’s safety. The big time manager posted a letter on Instagram explaining that he’s willing to work things out with Swift, but she’s dodged every attempt.

Braun also says his family has received “numerous death threats.”

You may recall Swift told her fans: “Please let Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you feel about this.”

Braun said, “Since your public statement last week there have been numerous death threats directed at my family. This morning I spoke out publicly for the first time saying I wouldn’t participate in a social media war. However I came home tonight to find my wife had received a phone call threatening the safety of our children.”

Braun shared a screen shot of a DM where the user wrote: “I will buy a gun tmr and them shoot you allin the head.”

“I assume this was not your intention but it is important that you understand that your words carry a tremendous amount of weight and that your message can be interpreted by some in different way,” Braun continued. “While disappointed that you have remained silent after being notified by your attorney 4 days ago of these ongoing threats, I’m still hopeful we can fix this.”

“It almost feels as if you have no interest in ever resolving the conflict,” Braun wrote. “At this point with safety becoming a concern I have no choice other than to publicly ask for us to come together and try to find a resolution. I have tried repeatedly through your representatives to achieve a solution but unfortunately here we are. The game of telephone isn’t working.”

“It is important that I am clear — no artist should ever feel cornered or bullied… As the world now knows you can and should perform any song you like at the AMAs. I have never and would never say otherwise. You do not need anyone’s permission to do so legally but I am stating it here clearly and publicly so there is no more debate or confusion.”

“Many have told me that a meeting will never happen as this is not about truth or resolution but instead a narrative for you. I am hopeful that is not the case,” he wrote. “I’m right here, ready to speak directly and respectfully. But if you would prefer to make large public statements while refusing to work towards resolving things amicably then I just pray that nobody gets seriously hurt in the process.”

Braun also publicly spoke out about the ordeal at the at the 2019 Entertainment Industry Conference this week.

“I haven’t talked about this in six months. Not once. I haven’t made a statement about it,” he said.

“I just think we live in a time of toxic division, and of people thinking that social media is the appropriate place to air out on each other and not have conversations. And I don’t like politicians doing it. I don’t like anybody doing it.”

He added, “If that means that I’ve got to be the bad guy longer, I’ll be the bad guy longer, but I’m not going to participate.”

He also touched on the death threats.

“It’s hard, because I can handle it pretty easily, but when it gets to a place where there’s death threats and there’s offices being called and people being threatened… it’s gotten out of hand,” he continued. “Right now we’re in a scary time where people say things and then people might not be in the right mindset and do really horrible things. And we’re inciting all of this by continuing these arguments in public. We just need to go behind closed doors and see if we can have a conversation. And if we’re not having conversations, then I don’t think we’re going to find resolution.”

  1. Taylor definitely knew this was coming, she’s not stupid and she’s young enough to know how social media, with all the good and the bad, works. I guess we could say she’s a sophisticated bully, because she just CANNOT TAKE losing at ANYTHING, and so she goes to any length to get what she wants or thinks is right. Such a big ego. Her demand is absolutely valid and the way Scott and the other old dude handled things were/are awful, but she’s still so immature and whiny in the way she tries to solve conflicts with people. I mean look at her and Katy, it truly became a worldwide narrative. She’s such a brat…..

    1. Also, she could have shared what’s happening to everyone and that would have been cathartic for her and even useful to start a serious conversation on the topic of abuse of power, but she also directedly COMMANDED HER ARMY to attack people. That’s nuts.

  2. Of course she knew exactly what she was doing. If that’s what it takes for her to get her power back- sorry not sorry. She’s a young thin attractive blonde so she’s got to be either a slut or a bitch or helpless victim- which we are so quick to label any woman in pop as.  Be a ruthless business woman, and take your throne back.

  3. I stand with her, but fans “need to calm down” haha. Fans can get intense (Hi Nicki Minaj fans). I have been told to go kill myself or threatened on youtube so many times but I’m not a public figure like this d-bag. Taylor has now made it known that she is one of the most powerful people in music now.

  4. apparently Scott can also play the victim , he now after all the public bullying he has made (not only Taylor but the others) is playing this card … this can be solved as easy as putting a price to Taylor’s Masters and back it off , he just wants to hurt Taylor …I can tell that after everything I have seen on this case. Taylor may be a bitch sometimes but he’s not an angel neither.

  5. If I could LIKE this, I would. Cause I’d rather just LIKE. I’m really scared of swifties coming for me. But since I’m already in the comments section LOL 😂 I’ll say, you tell ’em Scooter.

      1. Haha! I am here. I see a lot of objective people commenting. But I try to keep my thoughts to myself on Twitter. Exchanging healthy conversations with other Swifties on my DMs. 😄

  6. The way her last album performed chart-wise, she must be sweating knowing not much money is coming her way with the new music/future releases. Sales are not there, she’s having her first flop. Soon there’s gonna be a mental breakdown.

All the money is to be made with the old hits, so she needs to own all the pennies she can get.

I hope she never gets it. Disgusting bully. Shame on her.

  7. Enough had been enough from the start. It amazes me how many people continue to excuse this type of behavior from her. They Rationalize it in the form of “female being stifled by the patriarchy“…meanwhile Taylor Swift is one of a very select few people (man, woman or otherwise) who can quite literally do whatever she wants given her wealth, influence, and power. What continues to be played out is a petulant brat not being able to handle not getting her way- because how could she? Her life experience has never shown her anything but getting what she wants. And of course she knew what she was doing because this is how it always Plays out. Play the sympathetic victim, rally the troops, get the outcome I want. I think Scooter hit the nail on the head in his statement regarding him starting to believe she doesn’t want resolution but to push a narrative. You have your deranged fans threatening the life of this mans children and you say nothing?? This speaks volumes on your character as a human being. And anyone who follows the trends of Taylor can see the writing on the wall. This was all perfectly orchestrated to lead up to the AMAs where she will undoubtedly recite an impressive speech alluding to this whole situation And how she (a rich, white, beautiful, privileged) individual overcame this adversity to a standing ovation. It’s gross. Should she own her work? Of course. But let’s not pretend any artist being first signed by a label is coming out the victor between the two. Big Machine took a huge risk on signing her. They saw the marketability and poured millions of dollars into helping her develop into a superstar. They want a return on their investment. Period. Taylor made the mistake in thinking Scott Borchetta as the owner of a business had an interest any higher than making money.. she needs to live and learn and take the L like an adult. She hasn’t had many in her life and it’s proving very telling how she handles losing. And it’s not cute.

  8. This has gotten so out of control, and so frustrating, in so many ways. While Taylor Swift ultimately can’t be held responsible for idiots behind a keyboard on the internet, she most DEFINITELY knew that asking her billions of fans to “Tell Scooter and Scott how you feel” would bring us here. She’s most likely hoping for the best case scenario… Scott Borchetta agreeing to hand over her masters. Here’s the big, FAT problem I have with Taylor.

Any artist that signs a deal as a teenager knows DAMN WELL they aren’t going to own jack shit from their first record contract. They know the label will control the masters. Now, maybe as a teenager, you don’t really comprehend what that means, but at the end of the day you sign a contract and let a big label jumpstart your career. I understand Taylor is an incredible song writer and that these songs are person to her. But she made the deal. Scott handing over his label to Scooter and Taylor’s personal feelings about Scooter are IRRELEVANT. You don’t just get to demand that someone you don’t like should just hand over all creative rights to the work that was bought and paid for by the label.

Ultimately, Taylor has the right idea. Voice how irritating the system is, and how it does a disservice to the artists, then go re-record whatever you like and start over. If Scooter really is trying to stop it from happening, or Scott for that matter, there’s really nothing they can legally do.

This issue has been resolved. The label has given up creative rights for the upcoming AMA’s and the Netflix special. They’ve asked for a resolution. If their resolution is to convince her not to re-record her masters, well, they’ll never achieve that.

Right now though, in this moment, in this narrative of death threats in our modern backwards world, what Taylor Swift says next…. it’ll be the most important thing she says in her career. Her reputation of being a petty twat is back in full force right now, and how she chooses to handle herself and speak to those who are threatening a man’s life and the lives of his family and friends, it matters.
